How we source

Much of what circulates about spirits origins is marketing lore. Our load-bearing claims lean on Wikipedia's well-referenced entries, UNESCO, museum and academic sources, and primary documents (Gouberville's journal, Washington's distillery ledger). Where a claim is legend rather than documented fact, we say so — see the flagged caveats on the history page.
